Refrigerator Repair
Not cooling, leaking, noisy or frosting over. We find the failed part and fix most brands in your kitchen.
DetailsA built-in refrigerator is cabinetry and appliance in one. It has a top-mounted or rear condenser, heavier doors and its own way of doing defrost, so it rewards a technician who services it in place without scratching the panels.

Built-in refrigerator repair in Jacksonville most often means a clogged top condenser, a failed condenser or evaporator fan, a door that no longer seals or a control fault. We service the unit where it sits, protect the panels and floor, and quote the repair after diagnosis.
Built-in refrigerators breathe through a grille at the top or the toe kick instead of the back. That condenser pulls kitchen dust and grease straight in, and once it is matted the compressor runs long and hot. A large share of the built-in calls we take start there.
The doors are heavier and often carry a custom panel, so hinges and closers wear and the gasket stops sealing on the hinge side. Column units pair a fridge and a freezer side by side as two separate machines, which means one can fail while the other runs fine. We diagnose each column on its own.
Cost
Built-in refrigerators are priced per repair after diagnosis. Parts for these brands cost more than mainstream units, and some have to be ordered, so we confirm availability before quoting a date.
No flat price over the phone. We price after the diagnosis, part and labor separately, so you can decide before any work starts.
The jobs this page covers
Column refrigerators and freezers are installed as separate cabinets, each with its own compressor, fans and controls. That means one column can fail while its neighbor runs perfectly, so we test the warm column on its own without disturbing the other. We work around the custom panel rather than removing it unless the repair truly needs it. When a panel has to come off for a hinge or gasket job, we label and keep the hardware together so the panel goes back on square and the reveal lines up with the cabinetry again.

On top-mount built-ins the grille lifts off to expose the condenser coil and fan. Kitchen dust and cooking grease collect on those fins far faster than on a standard refrigerator, because the grille pulls air straight from the room above the cooktop line. We clean the coil fins, check the fan motor and look for the oily dust that signals a slow refrigerant leak at a joint. On toe-kick models we pull the base grille and clean from below. A clean condenser alone often brings both compartments back into their temperature range.
A heavy panel door that drops even a few millimeters stops sealing at the top corner on the handle side. Warm, humid air gets in, frost builds on the coil and the unit runs constantly to keep up. We check the hinge for wear, adjust or replace it and the closer cam, reset the door alignment against the cabinet and test the gasket seal all the way around with the door closed. A torn or flattened gasket gets replaced at the same time, because a new hinge on an old gasket still leaks.
What is included
San Marco started building in 1925, and many of its homes have had their kitchens redone around panel-ready and column refrigerators set flush into older walls. Those installs sit tight, so we plan access before we start and protect the cabinetry and the floor while the unit is out of its opening. The same goes for the newer custom kitchens we see across the river.
Step by step
We read the tag so the right parts can be checked before we open anything.
Floor runners and panel protection go down before the unit moves.
Condenser, fans, defrost and controls tested on the side that is failing.
Part installed, unit rolled back square, doors realigned and sealed.
Timing
A condenser cleaning and fan replacement usually takes an hour or two. Hinge and gasket work runs a little longer because the door has to be realigned and tested. When a brand-specific part has to be ordered, the first visit diagnoses and the second visit installs, and we give you the arrival day before we leave.
Built-in work we see most: Sub-Zero, Thermador, KitchenAid and Wolf kitchens, along with GE and Frigidaire built-in models.
FAQ
Yes. We diagnose and repair Sub-Zero built-in and column units, including condenser cleaning, fans, door hinges and controls. Parts that are not on the truck are ordered and we confirm the arrival day.
A clogged top or toe-kick condenser is the most common reason. A door that has dropped and lost its seal is the second.
Most repairs do not need it. When a hinge or door gasket job does, we remove the panel carefully, keep its hardware together and rehang it aligned.
About once a year in most kitchens, more often if you cook a lot or have pets. It is the cheapest thing you can do for a built-in.
Yes. Each column has its own sealed system and controls, so we diagnose the failing side on its own.
