Oven Repair
Ovens that will not heat, heat unevenly, fail self-clean or throw a code, gas and electric, range and wall ovens.
DetailsWhen one burner quits, the rest of the cooktop usually still works, which is a good clue. Most cooktop problems are a single igniter, switch, element or wire, and they are quick to find.

Stove and cooktop repair in Jacksonville usually involves a cracked or wet igniter, a failed spark module, a dirty burner cap, a burned-out radiant element or a failed infinite switch. We test the burner or element that failed, replace the part and check every burner before leaving.
Gas burners need three things to light: clean ports, a spark from the igniter at the right gap, and gas from the valve. A burner that clicks but will not light usually has a clogged port, a cap sitting crooked or a wet or cracked igniter. A burner that clicks constantly, even when off, usually has a shorted switch or moisture in the switch.
Electric coil and glass tops heat with elements controlled by infinite switches. An element that glows only on high, or will not shut off, points at the switch. An element that never heats points at the element or its terminal. On glass tops, a cracked surface over an element is a safety issue and the glass needs replacing.
Cost
Cooktop repairs range from an inexpensive coil receptacle to a full glass top replacement. The range here is national cost data for stove repairs.
Planning range from published cost data (homeadvisor.com), not a quote and not our price. Your number depends on the diagnosis and the part.

The jobs this page covers
We start with the simple causes: a cap that is not seated, ports blocked by boiled-over food, or an igniter tip that is wet after cleaning. If the burner still will not light, we test the spark at the igniter and the spark module behind the panel, and check the valve and the orifice for the right gas flow. On sealed burners the igniter electrode is often the failed part and can be replaced from above. We test every other burner while the cooktop is open so you know the rest are healthy.

On coil tops we check the coil, then the receptacle it plugs into, which burns and loosens over time. A receptacle with scorched terminals will burn out a brand new coil, so it gets replaced at the same time. If both test fine, the infinite switch for that burner is the cause. Coil-top repairs are some of the least expensive repairs we do, and most of the parts are common across many brands of electric range. We test every burner on low and high before we leave.
Glass radiant tops hide their elements under the glass. An element that does not glow, or glows only partly, has usually failed and can be replaced from below once the top is lifted. A hot surface light that stays on, or an element that will not shut off, points at the switch or the control. If the glass itself is cracked, stop using that cooktop. We replace the glass top as an assembly when parts are available for your model.
Gas cooking is common in Jacksonville homes on natural gas service, and many kitchens on the First Coast still cook on electric coil or glass ranges, so we carry igniters, spark modules, coil receptacles and infinite switches for both. Humid summer air can leave igniters damp after you wipe the cooktop, which makes them click without lighting. Letting the burner area dry before lighting is often all it takes.
